Parker Green International was honoured at the University of Ulster’s Placement Employer of the Year Awards, hosted by BBC presenter Donna Traynor at the Jordanstown campus on Thursday 22nd April.

The prestigious awards attracted more than 180 submissions from top companies throughout the country, but Parker Green managed to beat off stiff competition to scoop the Placement Employer of the Year Award (for up to 50 employees) on the night.

Speaking at the awards, Michael Delahunt, Design Director at Parker Green stated:

“We are delighted to receive such a prestigious accolade from one of Ireland’s most reputable Universities and we are thrilled that our University placement scheme is now recognised as an example of excellence on a national scale.

At Parker Green, we regard each student that comes through our door as a future industry professional and subsequently we endeavour to help him or her become the calibre of employee we would hope to employ full time after graduation.

A placement at Parker Green gives students the invaluable opportunity to experience a real working environment and become a fully integrated member of the team. We believe in work-based learning and we want to introduce our students to every discipline within the company, from architecture, planning, design and surveying to other areas such as administration, research, law, finance and marketing. Each department is equally important in ensuring the successful operation of a property development company.

The student experience at Parker Green aims to benefit and compliment their academic training, giving them the best opportunity and knowledge to face the next stage of their academic career.

It is important for us to listen and learn from placement students in order to ascertain the academic trends that are emerging, which then enable us to pinpoint the most important areas for our students to focus on and be involved in.

We believe that this invaluable placement can not only develop a student’s awareness of the workplace culture but will also essentially develop their personal and employability skills, which will undoubtedly help them get onto the career ladder faster and ensure the shift from undergraduate to full-time employee is as smooth a transition as possible.”
