Parker Green Managing Director, Dr. Gerard O Hare has been recognised for his commitment to the ethical practice of land use by Lambda Alpha International. The Honorary Society for the Advancement of Land Economics awarded the 2009 International Urban Affairs Award to Dr. O Hare. This award is presented every two years and was awarded to Dr Gerard O’Hare” in recognition of his prodigious efforts at economic development and urban regeneration in Northern Ireland. As well as championing sustainable mixed-use urban development in the UK, Europe, Ireland and USA”. This year it went to two recipients as it was also awarded to Ms Valerie Jarrett, Senior Advisor to President Obama.
The award ceremony took place in Chicago, Illinois as part of Lamba Alpha International’s Biennial Congress.
Speaking at the event, Dr. O Hare said, “It is a great honour to be selected for an award by an international organisation. It helps to put Ireland and Northern Ireland in particular on the agenda in terms of best practice in land usage. This award was made even more exciting through sharing it with Valerie Jarrett, one of President Obama’s closest aides.
In this difficult economic period we can’t lose sight of the fact that we need to keep going and stay committed to business despite the obstacles. We need to keep diversifying and investing in our land usage to ensure future successes.”
Individuals who have made notable contributions to the study and ethical practice of land use are invited to join Lambda Alpha International. Now numbering more than 2,000 members worldwide, Lambda Alpha International is an apolitical not-for-profit professional organization.
