Parker Green International was delighted to scoop not one but two gongs at the prestigious Irish News Workplace & Employment Awards in Belfast on Thursday 17th June.

A capacity crowd of high-profile businesses from all over the province, packed into the Ramada Hotel venue for the gala black-tie dinner. Keynote speaker, Sir Reg Empey, Minister for Employment & Learning congratulated all the winners on their success in placing a firm emphasis on individuals and their positive contribution to the Northern Ireland workplace.

The awards ceremony, which is one of the main events in the Northern Ireland business calendar was hosted by award-winning BBC journalist Karen Patterson. The event included 17 main awards being presented alongside 14 commendations. Special Guest, Sarah Newman from RTE’s Dragon’s Den, provided those attending with a unique insight into her journey in becoming a successful entrepreneur.

Speaking on the company’s double achievement, Parker Green’s Managing Director Dr. Gerard O’Hare CBE said:

“We are delighted to have been recognised again in these prestigious awards and to have a double win this year is twice as rewarding for all our loyal & committed staff. We have proudly managed to retain our title of ‘Right Place To Work’ for another year with unanimous support from the judges. According to their feedback, we won this category by ‘again demonstrating a strong and structured approach to both our employees well-being and that of the community, proactively engaging in a wide range of CSR activities.’ This award recognises that we have clear strategies in place to benefit our employees, while also balancing this with an awareness of what’s required to enhance the community around us.

Our second win was the ‘Managing Talent’ award and it was quoted that the company had ‘talent in spades. ‘The judges believed our award submission ‘shone like a beacon in a highly competitive category.’ It was proudly awarded to us in recognition of the ‘creativity and effectiveness of initiatives we have in place for our diverse workforce.’

These national awards were supported by KPMG, Tughans Solicitors, Royal Mail, firmus energy and Investors in People and have been endorsed by key industry bodies the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) and the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD).
