Parker Green’s Waterford development will secure 1000+ jobs for the Ballybeg area:
Parker Green International, one of Ireland’s leading innovative commercial developers, with an extensive portfolio which includes the Quays Shopping and Leisure complex in Newry and Fairgreen Shopping centre in Carlow, have shown great excitement over their newest commercial venture in Waterford, which they envisage will secure over 1000 jobs and act as a catalyst in attracting further investment for the city
Dr. Gerard O’ Hare, Managing Director of Parker Green International comments:
‘Our innovative mixed-use ‘lifestyle’ village will be located on Waterford Crystal’s former playing fields on the Cork Road, adjacent to the large Ballybeg estate. It will encompass an international conference and enterprise centre, hotel, retail, medical clinic and cinema.’
‘The state of the art development, which will include an iconic ‘crystal-like’ building honoring the world famous Waterford Crystal brand has been designed in consultation with the local community. The aim of this development was always integration with the local community, a scheme that the community can embrace and the entire city of Waterford can be proud of.’
‘Europe’s largest call centre provider have already announced their commitment to work with Parker Green on the Waterford scheme, which will see the provision of 500 call centre operator jobs in the Ballybeg area. We are also proud to announce that we are in the advanced stages of negotiations with a major hotel chain and their confidence in the scheme reinforces the potential for further investment. The jobs provision from this scheme will lift the area to a new level that would not have hitherto been considered possible and is especially welcome now in light of recent job losses in the area.
‘It is important to state that a wide range of commercial uses are permitted in order for the development to realise it’s full potential as a vibrant heart to the Ballybeg community.’
‘The Cork Road must be seen as a Gateway to the city centre. Gateways can however be opened out or opened in and if the opportunity for the Ballybeg / Kilbarry district as a sub region and district of the City is lost now then regrettably the leakage is most likely to be out of the city to the County. This unfortunately will hinder our objective to encourage the Ballybeg and surrounding area to flourish socially and economically. We have proudly achieved this in Newry and want this scheme to do the same for Waterford.’
