Newry Based Company Light Up the Competition

Monday 21 November 2005

Newry Based Parker Green International have recently won ‘Best Public or Office Lighting Scheme’ in the FX International Interior Design Awards. They are the only Irish company to have won an FX Award this year. The Awards, run by FX Magazine and now in their seventh year, celebrate the leading talent in the design industry and set the benchmark for design standards.

The lighting scheme for the Parker Green offices situated at Drumalane Mill in the Albert Basin area of the city was designed by Maurice Brill Lighting Design based in London.

The entry was an immediate hit with the judges because of its flexibility. The natural lighting is complemented with a range of dimmable fluorescent covers and task lamps for a daytime look suitable for client meetings and to create an ambient, light office environment. In contrast, the evening system is more dramatic to allow for parties and professional gatherings after hours.

Dr. Gerard O’ Hare Director of Parker Green said,

“We are delighted to have won this award for the lighting system in our office building. Parker Green winning one of these prestigious international awards shows that Northern Ireland companies can compete and be successful in all aspects of business on an international stage.

“We would like to congratulate Maurice Brill Lighting Design for their direct response to the brief they were given and for their ability to create an award winning lighting system for Parker Green International.”

A distinguished panel of experts judged this International Interior Design competition. The entries spanned projects and products in the retail, public, leisure and private sectors. The projects are judged on how the design world can enhance aspects of our daily lives. Finsbury Avenue Square in London was Highly Commended in Parker Green’s winning category, Best Public or Office Lighting Scheme.
