PGI Acquires Slovakian site for new commercial venture

June 2006

The Irish-based Property Company Parker Green International whose Central and Eastern European offices are based on Palisady in Bratislava, recently acquired an exceptional 13.4-hectare site in Slovakia zoned for a mixed–use development.

Proposals for their newest commercial development in Trnava, strategically located adjacent to a large Peugeot-Citroen factory, 40 km from Bratislava, include a 150 bedroom hotel and approximately 30,000 sq ms of retail. There are also plans to include a cinema and other leisure facilities.

Dr Gerard O’ Hare, Group Managing director of Parker Green International commenting on the acquisition, said:

“As an Irish-based developer we regard Slovakia as the ‘jewel in the crown’ of foreign investment. Its low tax regime, buoyant economy, strategic central location in Europe and plans to join the Euro zone justified our decision to locate our Central and Eastern European office in its capital.”

“Our Business development team have been pounding out a hectic travel schedule throughout the year to uncover the finest, most promising development sites in Slovakia and neighbouring Central and Eastern European countries.”

“Part of the process before deciding to invest in any development or site is to carry out extensive research, which is conducted by our in-house research department.”

“Commercial developments are considered to be the company’s forte. We envisage this new site in Trnava to be a commercial success. Currently, we have an established commercial portfolio featuring developments and investments in the UK and Ireland worth an estimated €600 million.”

Parker Green International continues to pursue other long term investment and development opportunities throughout Slovakia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Poland and Croatia to add to their growing international portfolio.
